I suppose a battle of ages is somewhat less contentious and discriminatory than one of the sexes. Wednesday's workout, following some PVC-pipe snatch drills, was a contest to see if the old guys could keep up with the younger ones. The exercises were as follows:
AMRAP in 12:30 (Round 1)
25 of KB Swings (52lbs), Wallball (15lbs) and Rowing (25 Calories)
AMRAP in 12:30 (Round 2)
25 of Bullwhips, Box Jumps (did 50 Squats instead) and Slamball (15lbs)
Didn't do any rowing, but concentrated mostly on Swings (only got 1 round of Wallball). The 52lb KB is still quite a challenge, especially over sets of 25, and it really burned me out for the Wallball. Did one set of 50 squats, and did mostly Slamball and Bullwhips. Chriss was most helpful in getting me to use my hips more during the whip, treating it like a combination swing and whip, rather than just a shoulder movement.
Was thinking that maybe a weighted/front squats might be a better substitute for Box Jumps. Perhaps a 75/95lb barbell might allow me to keep the number of squats consistent with the box jumps. I don't mind doubling air squats to box jumps, but it does tend to compromise competitive workouts where speed matters. More importantly, I'd love to build more lower body strength.....doing Pistols is a long-range goal of mine.
